Inspiring Session on Role of Women in Conflict Management in Bahir Dar

The importance of Women in peaceful conflict resolution was at the center of the next edition of a capacity building series that the House of Federation and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung are currently organizing in various parts of the country. This time, the event brought together over 100 Members from eleven districts of the House of Federation from the Amhara Regional State in Bahir Dar on April 21st, 2018.

After the inspiring introduction by Mr. Bizunehe Assefa (Peace Advisor) an impressive discussion focused on identifying conflict categories, the development/escalation schemes and strategic ways of long-lasting resolutions. The session was moderated by H.E. Mrs. Woekesemu Mamo, Vice-Speaker of the House of Federation. The concluding session created a stage for inputs and discussion on Womens’ democratic rights in Ethiopia which was opened by Mrs. Heberet Abahoy, a consultant with specialized law background on human rights, family law and women & children rights.

The Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung is grateful not only for this informative and timely capacity building but also for the various passionate ideas on how women can contribute even more effectively for peace, dialogue and nation building in Ethiopia.
